They are beautiful, but? really expensive. I got interested in them because of Brent Kutzle, a member of my fave band OneRepublic. He has one of these,and is just brilliant with it. It is a kind of an unusual thing in a band, but they make it work so well in their songs that it sounds amazing.

@itsumonihon carbone fiber cost like 70$ a yard. if you buy a 100? yard roll, it's gonna cost you around 2500$-3500$ in this project, it's WAY more than 100$ worth of cloth. i would say about 500$

@psychotikpaisano Either that or thrilled. I fall into the latter camp. The only hard thing about making composites is making the mold. The? rest of the work can be done in less than a day if you don't account for the time it takes the vacuum to work.

this guy's got a wicked business idea going. those things can't cost? more than 1000$ to make. you're looking at under 100$ in fiber, couple hundred bucks more for parts, few hundred more for labor. sell for 8grand. noice little profit.

@Afrocanuk Because as strong as carbon fiber is, it is very BRITTLE. You don't want that in building material. When metals break, they? deform. When CF breaks, it explodes into shards.
